Bio

Andrea "Arti" Rolfingsmeier
is a licensed Kansas attorney and self-taught graphic and web design artist. She is skilled in both traditional and internet research, digital and original web graphics. Arti is known for her passion, integrity, creativity, attention to detail, self-motivation and dependability.
Arti, originally from Dallas TX, graduated from the University of Kansas (1974), with a double major in Anthropology and Art History. She started work on a Master's degree in Art History, concentrating in Oriental Art. Her work in researching and cataloging the Mrs. Emery Byrd Thayer Japanese woodblock prints from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries culminated in an exhibition at Spooner Hall in 1975.
In 1983, Arti received her law degree from the University of Missouri at Kansas City, establishing a solo private practice upon passing the bar. She freelance wrote and researched appellate briefs and other legal documents for area attorneys. Her civil trial practice included document preparation and trial work in domestic relations, wills, probate, contracts, collections and landlord-tenant law, as well as juvenile and municipal court work (1984-1992).
During her time away from full-time practice (1992-2005), Arti continued private research into such legal issues as the death penalty, criminal defense, the Patriot Act, Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering Act, and other laws affecting federal credit unions. She also bought and renovated houses and old furniture professionally.
On the more overtly creative side, Arti's poignant short story "Full Circle" was published in October, 2005 in the popular Canfield and Hansen Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul. Recently, she submitted three more stories for upcoming Chicken Soup publications.
She has also written four novel-length crime fiction manuscripts about the Kansas death penalty, small Kansas communities, crime procedures, the 1940s and 1950s, Alcatraz, local current and historical crimes. Arti is a master quilter, writer and humorist. With five cats, she is also a bona fide "Cat Whisperer"!
Arti Rolfingsmeier has been featured in Marquis's Who's Who of American Women, been a candidate for appointment to the Kansas appellate bench, and an American Business Women Association chapter's Woman of the Year.
